Grainne teaches a flow yoga class and also Yin yoga. She has lovely soft energies and uses humour and love to bring you to an inner space of peace and acceptance
She is a very positive minded teacher with a very supportive and caring way about her.
Grainne has always found reward in helping people, making them feel comfortable and attending to their needs.
She has been teaching yoga for over 12 years, and acknowledges “every body” is so different, and she guides each person to their own level of ability.
Grainne brings a lovely balance of a sense of fun and enjoyment to her classes, while marrying this with an awareness of one’s breath which helps center one’s mind and keep one’s awareness in the present moment.
Her first introduction to yoga was through a friend who suggested they try something different, but what Grainne experienced and gained from that first class was to change her life on levels she would not have dreamed off. ” I immediately found my sanctuary”.
She immediately sensed that yoga was so much different to a fitness class, and the experience of the breathwork and awareness inspired her from the beginning.
Grainne has always been very interested in the breath and how yoga can be so powerful at transformation on many levels… buy yet to the untrained eye looks so simple from the outside.
She quickly began practicing up to 4 times per week and as 1 of her passions is travelling, yoga was ideal. Luckily for her she didn’t have technology to follow so she found wonderful classes and teachers on all her travels and had her own personal practice also, which meant that she was now living with Yoga.
She was hooked from the start and wanted to share with whoever she could this beautiful practice. On departure from San Francisco she decided to complete her teacher training with the company Yogaworks.
Having worked in the hospitality industry for many years, including travel agencies, hotels and offices she wanted something more meaningful and personal and began putting her training into sharing.
Yoga has been a part of my life for over 14 years, and my practice has helped me grow stronger, more flexible and fearless, both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires me to live more mindfully.
For me, Yoga is all about the balance between strength and flexibility, easy and difficult, slow and fast, yin and yang. My classes combine both strength and mobility work in a dynamic, Vinyasa Flow style. Yin and Restorative classes are more about restful, rejuvenation, going deeper and relaxing. Guaranteed in all classes is a chance to explore the breath and use it to the best of its ability to hold poses, move with it and release into poses. Expect to breathe!!
It was around 2010 that I wanted to get serious about meditation. It had always been in the background and I’d flirted with it but never stuck with it. After many years of “trying to meditate” I found this aspect the most challenging but with practice and patience and well guided classes I started a personal practice.
As my practice develops and deepens I would say the main benefit for me personally is the feeling of calmness after a practice, where the monkey mind is less active and the waves of life become more ripple like.
As a complete practice; asana, meditation and breathwork combined together, creates an all-round physical, mental and emotional support for the practitioner.
Grainne’s non-judgmental teaching style and compassion-centered classes are suitable for all levels.
I will always be a student of the practice and am grateful for the wisdom my teachers have shared with me and hopefully I can share with others.
I hope to help others thrive by nurturing the body and mind with yoga, and my hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced.
Grainne brings a lightness and good humour to her classes.
You will find her classes enjoyable as well as a great way to depen your practice.
She makes her practices accessible to everybody and will inspire and support you so that you can continue to do a daily practice yourself when you go home after the retreat.
