Clara Skoog Smyth was born in California and grew up in Ireland. She was educated in Ireland, the Netherlands and Australia.
Her background in Yoga and Meditation has always been shaped by an international context.
Raised in a family with a strong emphasis on somatic practice and meditation, Clara started to find her relation to yoga and meditation at a very young age.
It was mindfulness and embodied breath that kept bringing her back to the practice, and this is what maintained her love of yoga and meditation and sustained her own practice over the years.
Clara is a 500 RYT trained yoga teacher. She attended two separate yoga teacher trainings in India after years of practice, beginning her first yoga teacher training in 2018 in Goa. This was a 200 hour Hatha, Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga training and transformed and deepened her own daily yoga practice.

In 2019 Clara completed a 300 hour teacher training in Yin and Vinyasa yoga which included significant pranayama training as well as meditation. Clara approaches life with a passion for learning and continues her ongoing training, completing a Yin yoga training with Josh Summers and a Prana Vinyasa training with Shiva Rea.
Clara has taught in yoga in India, Bali, The Netherlands and runs weekly yoga classes here in Clare, Ireland. She has developed classes for teens in secondary schools, and a number of weekly classes and retreats for a variety of ages and needs to include both young and seniors.
Clara always keeps the breath and awareness of the breath central to her yoga classes, tuning deeply to enable each person to respond according to their own ability and experience. In her classes she creates a mood of calm lightness and equally depth where you will feel both held and also challenged in delightfully, fluid practices.

Her morning classes are more flowing and dynamic and the afternoon classes are restorative.
In the restorative classes, the postures are more relaxing, and often we stay in the posture for a longer length of time. We use bolsters and blocks to help support the body in these comfortable postures.
“I will always try and meet the student where they are and build from there. I want to give them practices that they can realistically work into their everyday but also offer them the challenges they may not typically give themselves in a safe and held environment. I adore the practice and it is a joy to help others to discover the spaciousness within”. – Clara
Clara feels that the combined practice of yoga, breathwork and meditation works together to refine the physical and subtle parts of our being so that we can have a fuller, more vibrant, more spacious and more joyful experience of our everyday lives.

Clara teaches breath focused meditation. She guides you to bring your awareness to rest on the breath.
Observing the thoughts, but not getting caught up or carried away by them.
She teaches meditation every morning and every evening and one of the goals of the retreat is that you will then bring these practices home, so you can continue each day yourself.
“I have been attending yoga classes over many years and Clara is one of the most extraordinary yoga teachers I have encountered.
Her blend of deep reading and care of her students, her presence and her skill, all blend to create classes where a student can feel both held and challenged in delightfully fluid steps. She consistently creates a mood of calm lightness in her teaching space which serves the gentle devotion she invites into each part of the practice. Her classes are authentic and deeply satisfying such that a practice becomes deliciously magnetic and all cares fall away.” – Roseanna
“I am amazed that in Clara’s classes I have been able to gently move into increased strength and range of movement while also finding a deeply spiritual grounding in the present moment. ” – Simone
