How long does it take to drive from Dublin?
It all depends what time you leave Dublin. On a Friday afternoon the traffic is very bad in Dublin.

The shortest way from the Cliffs of Moher to the centre is to take the shortcut across country via Lisdoonvarna, Kilfenore, Corofin. Then follow the directions above from Corofin.
The most scenic drive from the Cliffs of Moher is to take the coast road which has beautiful views of the Burren hills as they plunge into the Atlantic, and you will get to see the Aran Islands, Fanore beach and also Galway bay as you drive along the sea shore.
From the Cliffs of Moher, drive towards Lisdoonvarna direction and follow signs for either Coast Road or Ballyvaughan.
Then follow the directions above from Ballyvaughan.
The Burren Yoga Retreat is 6 miles from Gort and there is a bus stop and train station in Gort.
There are also many taxis in Gort which are listed at the TAB Taxi Numbers.
In is not advisable to take a bus to Kinvara. There are no taxis based in Kinvara, and it is possible to get stranded there.
If you do end up in Kinvara, one of the taxis from Gort may drive to Kinvara to pick you up, but be aware it will be more expensive than from Gort.
In Ireland the train to get here from Dublin, is slower than the bus and the train has much fewer times to choose from. You also need to change trains in Athenry.
The bus has toilets and WiFi on-board and has many more times to choose from. This may be important for your return journey.
If travelleing from Dublin airport or city, my advice is to use Citylink bus. In general it is quicker and there are more times to choose from.
Other companies include Expressway which is owned by Bus Eireann.
If travelling from Shannon airport, Cork or Limerick the best is Bus Eireann number 51.
From anywhwere else in Ireland, search “Bus Eireann (and the town you are travelling from and) Gort”

There is no train at Dublin airport. To get the train you would need to take a bus from the airport into Dublin city and get the train from there. This is not advised as it will take so long to even get to the train station.
My advice is to take the Citylink bus direct from the airport to Galway city.
And then to either take the reduced fare taxi (see TAB Taxi Numbers) from Galway to the retreat centre, or else take the Bus Eireann number 51 bus to Gort and then a taxi from Gort.

The closest airport to the Burren Yoga Retreat is Shannon airport.
This is an international airport, but your local airport may not fly into Shannon.
If you can’t find a flight into Shannon, then Dublin airport is the most likely airport to find a direct flight.
Other airports to try are Knock, Kerry and Cork airports… and possibly Belfast airport but that is a long drive away.
The drive from Shannon airport takes approx. 50 minutes.

There is also a reduced fare taxi service and details are at the TAB Taxi Numbers. It is advisable to book a week or more in advance if possible.
There is a bus (Bus Eireann number 51) from Shannon airport to Gort. Gort is 6 miles from the Burren Yoga Retreat, and please see TAB Taxi Numbers to get a taxi from Gort.

The taxi company will know whether others are flying in close to your time, or arriving at Galway city and they will arrange you to share the taxi.
Make sure you tell the taxi you will be travelling to the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre.
Please book the taxi at least 1 week before the date you need it if possible.
The train station is too busy to meet in the station. Simply walk around the corner to Fairgreen, towards the Citylink coach station. The taxi driver will wait for you at the junction of Station Road and Fairgreen with Burren Yoga logo on a sign.
Tanveer drives a grey Toyota Corolla with reg 212 G 1050.
Taxi pickup time is normally 5:20 pm from Fairgreen which will get you here by 6:30 pm.
Cost is €60 for the taxi fare special rate booked with Tanveer.

When you book your taxi with James, ask him whether there is anybody else booking the taxi with him to come here that day, and could you share the taxi with them.
The taxi driver will wait for you at arrivals with your name on a sign.
Special rate for Burren Yoga is €80 for the taxi fare. This is for 1 person. The taxi fare is €90 for 2 to 4 people.
If your flight is delayed more than 1 hour you will be charged at €45 per hour or part of.

Please book your taxi at least 30 minutes before you arrive in Gort as they can be slow in responding. Tell them what time your bus or train will arrive.

Currently there are no taxis which operate from Kinvara.
For that reason, you are advised not to take a bus to Kinvara, and instead to travel to Gort.
The closest taxi driver to Kinvara is John 085-279 0623
Or you would need to phone one of the taxis from Gort, who could drive to Kinvara, but they may charge a lot more.
