We have Burren Guided Walks on all of our retreats.
The Burren is an ancient mystical place where the druids and ancient seers of Ireland lived.
Poulnabrone dolmen is 5,000 years old and there have been people living in the Burren for thousands of years before that.
Nowadays there are very few people living in The Burren and it is largely a unique undisturbed protected Natural environment.
The Burren was designated as a Geopark in 2011 by ENESCO.
It is famous for it’s wildflowers and it’s ancient limestone hills that are ideal for hill walking.
Located along the Atlantic ocean on the west coast of Ireland, it includes sandy beaches as well as a wide variety of places to explore.
We have Burren guided walks with an experienced guide on all of our retreats.
The wide range of wildflowers attract many species of butterflies and insects which in turn support a wide range of bird life.
The limestone hills heat up in Summer and slowly emit their heat in Winter. Combined with warmed air coming in from the Gulf Stream, this produces a mild climate in Winter.
The sea is noticeably warmer than the east coast and many swimmers enjoy refreshing swims on our retreats.
There is a lovely variety of birds including finches, tits, curlews and each year the Cuckoo comes to visit for a few months.

You don’t need to decide beforehand, and can wait until we arrive at our special location and see both walks.
Many of our overseas visitors have been in awe on our daily guided outings where they are brought to see many special places in the Burren.
