Chef Position at Retreat Centre

We are seeking a chef to prepare dinner and lunch for guests on our wellness retreats.

All the food is vegetarian.

This position is with the Burren Yoga Retreat, which is located in the townland of Normangrove – Cappacasheen, 5 miles from Kinvara and 6 miles from Gort on the Galway Clare border.

The Burren Yoga Retreat has a very nice relaxed atmosphere and is a lovely place to work.

This is a dream job for the right person.

Preparing and cooking high standard of vegetarian food in a lovely, relaxed retreat environment.

You would need to live within a 30 miles radius of the Burren Yoga Retreat. You would also need to have your own car.

 

Currently, we are seeking a chef to cook at the retreat centre.

Chef Work Description & Hours

The role involves preparing, cooking and serving dinner and lunch at the Burren Yoga Retreat.

Part Time - Permanent Position

26th May until 29th August 2023

All Year Round

We run our retreats all year round.

We run week-long retreats (Friday evening to Thirsday at noon) every week from mid May to end of September.

And also from 27th December -9th January.

And at Easter.

The rest of the year from October to December, and from Jan to mid May we run weekend-only retreats (Friday evening to 2:00 pm Sunday after lunch)

Person we are seeking

We are seeking a chef who is

  • loves preparing and cooking vegetarian food to a very high standard
  • very positive-minded, hard-working & enthusiastic
  • reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently on their own
  • committed to high standards
  • punctual
  • nice presentable appearance and who is polite with guests
 

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking dinner for 12 to 20 people
  • Maintain the high-quality vegetarian meals
  • Prepare foods for breakfast including granola, compote, porridge
  • Baking breads
  • Setting tables and presenting food to guests
  • Managing the food stock and ordering
  • Inspecting and communicating with food suppliers to ensure quality is maintained
  • Be familiar with special diet requirements (including coeliac, diet for IBS, diet for diabetic) and ensure all dietary requirements are catered for

Start in April / May

We can discuss when you are available to start.  The position is available from 28th April 2023.

We can arrange training days here with our current chef.

We are ideally looking for someone who is willing to commit to this position for at least a year.
