Yoga for Health and Wellbeing retreat

Niamh Daly is a highly experienced teacher who specialises in using Yoga to enhance our health and wellbeing through the stages of our lives.

Internationally renowned as a teacher, teacher trainer and author, in this retreat Niamh will bring you the kind of care your individual body needs. You will return home with a wealth of yoga practices that are known to support health, comfort and ease in life.

Niamh’s teaching is mainly hatha yoga, inspired by Yin and restorative yoga which bring to the fore principles of self-compassion; softening; letting enough be enough; and permission to adapt your practice and support yourself as you uncover your body’s needs.

However she is also trained in teaching Pilates, Somatics and nutrition. These disciplines are woven in to give you a broad experience that also challenges your body and nervous system to become stronger and more resilient.

Her classes vary from bringing your body the positive challenges it needs to stay mobile and strong, to deeply gentle sessions that bring you back to your breath and connection to the present moment. Sensing your body and how you feel on all levels as you sink deeper into postures and movements, allows your experience to unfold as your individual body needs, rather than trying to achieve or push yourself too hard.

When we learn to do this, we gain the trust of our body and nervous system, which allows the body to flourish.

Niamh teaches with great respect for yoga and the human body, as well as with lightness and a sense of humour, so that her classes are enjoyable as well as relaxing and immersive. She encourages each person to be compassionate with themselves, and not to force, strain or over-achieve, but instead to tune inwards and to be guided by the intuitive layers of their being.

There is a meditation class in the morning and evening each day, and one of the benefits of our week-long retreats is that you can become familiar with, and then take these practices home with you.

There is a lovely variety of classes on this Yoga for Health and Wellness retreat, as well as opportunities to ask Niamh questions about your own hopes for your health. She is generous with her time and expertise, so that you will be furnished with little tips to enhance your life when you return home.

Daily Outdoors in the Burren on all of our retreats.

All ages hill walking Burren Yoga

On Monday you may like an optional treatment in our massage therapy rooms, or you may decide to take some time to yourself to either explore the Burren or put your feet up to relax at the centre.

All our classes, outings and meals are optional, so you are free to join all or some as you please during the week.

However over 95% of people relish the freedom of not having to decide or choose what to do each day, and go with the full programme which is a well tried recipe which we have been running and improving on since 1999.

We are famous for our food and so many people have said they would come back time and time again just for the amazing vegetarian food.  Our chef will prepare all our vegetarian meals with organic and locally sourced vegetables and the finest ingredients.

Suitable for All

This yin inspired hatha yoga retreat is suitable for complete beginners to intermediate.

Niamh will give instructions that will guide complete beginners or advanced practitioners to go deeply into the postures and to let go on all levels.  The actual practices are reasonably gentle… but the sense of ‘letting go’ is very profound.

There are no comparisons made between people, and this yin inspired hatha yoga retreat is suitable for everyone.

Teaching since 2004, Niamh is a registered Senior Yoga Teacher.

She is also one of Ireland’s longest standing teachers of Yin Yoga. In addition to running classes and workshops, and helping private clients through Yoga, Nutrition and Exercise, she created, and trains teachers worldwide in Yoga for Menopause.

Niamh first became attracted to Yoga by the physical fun and challenge but before long she realized there was something much broader available. What fascinated her was that Yoga worked on physical, mental and emotional levels, as the release of old tensions and habits transformed her connection with life.

Niamh has trained in Hatha Yoga, and studied and practiced many of the variations of Yoga from it’s more traditional roots in India, to new approaches and schools of yoga, and with world-renowned teachers in Yoga, Somatics, Anatomy, Neuroanatomy, Nutrition and more. These perspectives drew her to a deep respect for the delicate strength of the human body and brain, and so she is particularly interested in using Yoga’s wide-ranging aspects to support muscle, bone, organ and brain health via movement, stress-reduction, and sleep support.

Niamh teaches from an evidence-based perspective, but also from the heart. You will learn tools that will help you move and live more freely, but your needs will be prioritised over any class plan, and you will be offered ways to help your body and nervous system love what you do.
