Quality New Year yoga retreat

Dara teaches Hatha yoga and places a lot of emphasis on the breath and bringing your awareness inwards.

Dara’s classes on this New Year yoga retreat will consist in a beautiful blend of gentle stretching, loosening opening movements, and flowing yoga and restorative yoga classes which are relaxing and restorative poses to melt away physical and mental tension and deeply rest the mind and body.

We combine deep and yet easy stretches using yoga props (chairs, blocks, belts, bolsters) and restorative poses to release the stress of your week, increase flexibility, range of movement and posture.

We help you to create body awareness so you can easily adjust your posture during your normal day to avoid unnecessary tension in the muscles and areas more prone to generate physical pain (back, neck and shoulders).

Our focus will be to calm and nurture ourselves on all levels during the classes on this New Year yoga retreat. 

There is a meditation class in the morning and evening each day, and one of the benefits of our week-long retreats is that you can then take these practices home with you.

The Burren Yoga Retreat is located at the foot of the Burren hills nestled amongst the hazel trees.

You are surrounded with a vast choice of special places in the Burren where we go for hill walks, Nature Trail walks, walks by the sea, beautiful beaches and forests to explore.

There are optional activities such as surfing, kayaking, sea swimming, swimming in our nearby lake which heats up during the summer.

On 30th December you may like an optional treatment in our massage therapy rooms, or you may decide to take some time to yourself to either explore the Burren or put your feet up to relax at the centre.

All our classes, outings and meals are optional, so you are free to join all or some as you please during the week.

However over 95% of people relish the freedom of not having to decide or choose what to do each day, and go with the full programme which is a well tried recipe which we have been running and improving on since 1999.

We are famous for our food and so many people have said they would come back time and time again just for the amazing vegetarian food.  Our talented chef will prepare all our vegetarian meals with organic and locally sourced vegetables and the finest ingredients.

Suitable for All

This New Year yoga retreat is suitable for complete beginners to intermediate. 

Dara will give more gentle variations to anybody who needs it, and you will find the relaxation is profound during her classes.

There are no comparisons made between people, and this course is suitable for everyone.

Hatha yoga teacher Dara Loughrey

Dara Loughrey had her first taste of yoga while at acting college in Sydney in 2002. It was an Ashtanga practice taught by Gavin Robins.

Dara could feel the physical benefits right away, and the physical yoga practice grabbed her instantly.

In the beginning Dara started going to yoga classes twice per week, and the practice of yoga began to change her life.

She also felt the benefits of the yoga practice spilling over onto her daily life, and left her feeling less anxious and being more patient and feeling relaxed.

In 2006 she undertook a 3 year long yoga teacher training in Sydney at Nature Care College. This is once of the most advanced teacher trainings and is a 500 hour Advanced Yoga Diploma.

Since then Dara has continued her training at every opportunity and has completed trainings and workshops with Shiva Rea, Ana Forrest, Somon Borg Oliver, Mark Whitwell and John Ogilvie.
